Bye Bye Plastic Bags Indonesia
An initiative to ban all plastic bags on Bali by 2015

What do we do?We collect signatures offline and online, on Avaaz. We do presentaions at local and international schools. And raise the general awareness to say no to plastic bags. What do we need to achieve?If we get 1 million signatures on our petitions (online & literal) we will urge and convince the Indonesian Government to create this law to ban the use, sales and production of plastic bags on Bali.

Inspiring community leaders and change-makers

Our Local Scholars are students from Bali and other Indonesian islands whose families’ do not have the financial means necessary to pay for a Green School education. Because qualified applicants are eligible to receive up to 99% of the cost of tuition and fees, our Programme can only exist through the generous contributions of our supporters. We seek a long term relationship with our donors, whose support can both enhance our Programme and advance our Scholar population, to the benefit of our entire community. We welcome all levels of support to help sustain our Programme and ensure its continued growth by accepting contributions in every amount. We also invite you to consider sponsoring a Local Scholar or, leave a lasting legacy at our school by “purchasing” a bamboo pole. Together, we aim to enrich the education of these children and their impact on our planet, one student at a time. The Green School Local Scholar Programme is designed to engage and inspire children to become leaders and change-makers in their communities. We are seeking students and families who are passionate about their potential and will thrive in the Green School environment. With our emphasis on ecological stewardship and entrepreneurial learning, Green School seeks to provide the resources and tools these students need to preserve and enhance the island of Bali and their world as it faces a daunting array of challenges.

We will be gratefully receiving new stock of secondhand items as we will need an ongoing supply of items for sale. We also invite you to bring in any household recycling you may have so we can keep our GS community footprint as light as possible. Also on hand to help will be our new KemBali assistant Ibu Wida who is also mum to Hazel in Grade 4.
