NextGEN
Scotland
The youth movement of the Global Ecovillage Network
Today we are active in every GEN region, with each region operating with its own focus and specific goals. We are united by our youthful spirits, our love of the ecovillage movement and the longing to be a part of creating the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible. In the regions of Oceania and Asia, Africa, North America and Europe we have groups gathered under the NextGEN name. In CASA (Latin America) CASA Jóvenes is in the process of emerging. We dialogue between regions through NextGEN International which is a thematic region of the Global Ecovillage Network.

Pathways to a sustainable future

GEN serves as umbrella organization for ecovillages, transition town initiatives, intentional communities, and ecologically-minded individuals worldwide.
CASA
Brazil
Latin American Ecovillage Network
The Council of Sustainable Settlements of the Americas seeks to coordinate and strengthen the actions of Latin American national and regional networks promoting, forming, investigating and disseminating ways of sustainable and regenerative life. CASA seeks to create and visualize living examples that can inspire change towards life patterns that recover and regenerate the ecological, economic and social systems, we consider vital to ensure the continuity of the human species on earth. CASA emerged in January 2012 from the convergence of movements and networks towards sustainable living and was given the task of making visible the movement of sustainable settlements in Latin America. CASA connects organizations, settlements, communities, eco-districts, towns in transition, and enterprises that drive the proliferation of intentional projects as benchmarks to a life of regenerative relationship with the planet and among humans.

Redesigning school grounds in an ecologically sound manner
The younger generations are the future custodians of the planet's resources and many initiatives must be taken to educate them for sustainable development and also to improve the present situations of food and nutrition insecurity. One such initiative is the Schools and Colleges Permaculture (SCOPE) Programme of Zimbabwe which has used the Integrated Land-Use Design (ILUD) process as a tool to assist schools to redesign their grounds in an ecologically sound manner with impressive results. In addition, the Regional Schools and Colleges Permaculture (ReSCOPE) Programme has been established to promote the sharing of experiences by partners who are committed to assisting schools and colleges to demonstrate sustainable land use with a view of enhancing healthy environments in and out of school. All ReSCOPE partners work with schools and colleges to promote productive and healthy environments.
