Exploration of Art, Culture, and Spirituality in Bali (ARTD 388)

![]() |
Students will explore the cultural richness and craftsmanship of artwork created in Bali. Many villages in Bali are epicenters for unique craft forms, which are passed down from generation to generation.
This course will take students to these villages and into the workshops of traditional craftspeople where they can learn about the experiences and perspectives of families and communities who pass on their trade. Students will be encouraged to make connections to how we teach art & design at PLU.
Students in the area of Art & Design will be challenged to apply their understanding by developing a project in their area of study. Students not in Art & Design will be encouraged to explore and better understand the rich arts culture of the Balinese people through interviews, photography, journaling, and projects in the area of studio art.
