As eco-activist Bill McKibben said, "Study abroad probably is the single most important kind of travel that people can be doing." While worth the environmental cost of emitting greenhouse gases from international flights, PLU believes it is also vital that we acknowledge and account for these impacts. PLU is going beyond carbon offsetting by enabling students to become more carbon conscious through a process called carbon onsetting.
Please click the "Onset Emissions Now" button on the top right of your screen and input your flight itinerary to see what impact the associated GHG emissions have in real world terms. You are invited to contribute what you can or just save your emissions without contributing. PLU will account for remaining emissions using the Social Cost of Carbon and direct funds to sustainability projects in the countries PLU students are traveling to.
